Giving commercial teams a near real-time view of demand

A code-built reporting layer reduced the wait between a commercial question and a useful answer.

Role
Customer marketing lead
Focus
Commercial reporting and demand steering
Outcome
Faster answers without a separate data request

Leadership and commercial teams often received data too late or in partial form to act on it. Existing dashboards were static and hard to explore. A deeper question could take hours, days, or longer because it had to enter the data team's queue.

What I did

A practical way through the constraint

  1. 01

    Connect the operating data

I connected the business database to a code-built reporting layer so I could pull and transform the data points the team needed.

  2. 02

    Build views around real decisions

The dashboards made it easier to see demand, explore the underlying drivers, and create views for other teams without repeating a long reporting cycle.

  3. 03

Use the information to steer activity

The team could decide whether to push communications and promotions, or reduce activity when fulfilment was under pressure.

Result

What changed

Commercial teams had a faster way to investigate what was happening and respond to demand and operational constraints with more confidence.

Organisation, tools, database structure, and dashboard implementation are withheld.
