Keeping campaign data around long enough to learn from it
A lightweight reporting pipeline preserved campaign performance data beyond the platform's normal retention window.
- Role
- Marketing automation executive
- Focus
- Reporting and data retention
- Outcome
- Historical campaign data available for planning
The marketing-automation platform kept campaign statistics for a limited period. Once that window passed, teams could no longer easily compare performance with the previous quarter or year. There was no proper ingestion process or dashboard that retained the data needed for planning and business reviews.
What I did
A practical way through the constraint
- 01
Pull the data into a retained layer
I created a script-led pipeline that moved campaign statistics into a cloud-based reporting environment.
- 02
Make the data usable
The dashboard made it possible to pivot the data and build charts around links, engagement, and campaign outcomes.
- 03
Treat it as a planning tool
The goal was not to add another dashboard. It was to retain enough history for year-on-year reviews and better campaign decisions.
Result
What changed
The team had a retained view of campaign performance instead of losing the information needed to compare cycles, investigate engagement, and prepare future plans.
