Putting more of a marketplace catalogue into paid social
A script-refreshed product feed and automated creative system let one marketer test far more products than manual ad production allowed.
- Role
- Growth marketing manager
- Focus
- Dynamic creative and catalogue operations
- Outcome
- Catalogue-scale testing from a one-person setup
The marketplace had too many products to build a separate ad for each one. The team's normal testing model focused budget on a short list of products, which meant potentially promising offers could be missed. There was no advertising-ready product catalogue, and the underlying database did not use the required data schema.
What I did
A practical way through the constraint
- 01
Create the missing catalogue
I built a static product feed from the internal database and refreshed it on a regular schedule with scripts.
- 02
Make the product cards fit the placements
I translated a small set of design rules into an automated creative workflow so product images, titles, borders, and layouts were ready for the available placements.
- 03
Let the platform match products to people
The catalogue gave the advertising system a broader set of products to test instead of relying only on manual shortlists.
Result
What changed
The team could test a broader range of products without asking the technology or creative teams to produce each variation manually. The work surfaced demand for some products that were not obvious candidates at the start.
Organisation, platforms, product catalogue, and implementation details are withheld.
